My sadness has a purpose. This is what I need.

There is sadness with diabetes. It happens. It is part of the deal. Dealing with sugar levels, recovering from highs and lows, thinking about the future, mourning a life you lost, feeling the ever-present judgement of others and so much more. There are days that we must deal with the truth of our lives. These are sad days and they are justified. You can support us by being close so we are not alone or allowing us to rest our head on your shoulder for comfort or acknowledging that today appears to be one of those days for us. Just see us where we are without the need to change us because seeing us struggle bothers you. When that happens we try to put on a happy face, swallow our true emotions and fake it. And living a lie makes the pain last much longer.
