Your provider can’t read your mind. They need your voice.
As I watch tweets, pics and posts on social media, I see some fear about telling your doctor what’s really on your mind. A bit of “they don’t get it” or “they don’t care” or “there is no time” or “I can’t do this” or “it won’t change anything”. I certainly get that – it has happened to all of us. But when I put my nurse cap on (is that still even a thing??!!), I am reminded about how it all works. You always start with basics and work your way from there. Since we hire our providers to guide our medical care, it is our duty to communicate what we really believe, think and feel we can live with. And they should come back with options and take your plan from the basics to one tailored to you. It’s a process and your voice is the guide.
