Check out this press release from Abbott lab!  Yesterday they announced a new point of care test for determining a person’s A1c.   This is amazing for 3 reasons:

1. The test is done in a doctors office and not sent out to a lab
2. Results are ready in 3 minutes so you and your provider can react to your results IN THE OFFICE!!
3. It meets standards for insurance diagnoses –  claims may be less likely to get rejected

For many PWD, your labs come back several days after your visit and the opportunity to discuss the results in severely limited.
