To feel understood, we must have the courage to use our voice to clearly communicate our diabetes needs. Otherwise, we can fall into victimhood and feel isolated and misunderstood. But it is communication that connects us. When we speak our truth and others acknowledge us, feelings of calmness and security flood our senses. Quite the opposite of some of the frustrations diabetes can bring about. To me, it is worth the uncomfortableness that precedes difficult conversations. Try it!
